Metabo Sisal polishing rings 623507000, for pre polishing of steel, stainless steel and Aluminium.

Sisal mops are more aggressive than cotton mops and are used to remove light scratches and blemishes prior to intermediate and final polishing. Diameter 100mm, width 15mm with 19mm keyed centre to fit the Metabo SE 12-115 burnishing machine, pack of 5.

The mops are placed side by side to produce a "gang" to suit the product width.

These mops are used in conjunction with Metabo white polishing paste 623507000. They can also be used on any brand of burnishing machine such as Eisenblatter, Flex, Cibo, Metabo, Fein that have a 19mm keyed shaft.

Sisal fibres sandwiched between calico cloth make up each section, which are then spirally stitched. A sisal mop is more aggressive than a standard stitched cotton mop.

Role in the Polishing Process

Stainless steel polishing typically follows a multi-stage progression:

Cutting Stage (Sisal Mops): For removing heavy scratches or 240–600 grit marks, very hard Sisal Mops are used with heavy cutting compounds.
Intermediate Stage (Hard Stitched Cotton Mops): Once the surface is flat, stitched cotton mops are used to remove the "dull" finish left by sisal. They provide the rigidity needed to apply enough pressure to generate heat and refine the metal's surface.
Final Finishing (Loose Leaf Mops): For a high-gloss or mirror finish, the process transitions to Loose Cotton Mops, which are unstitched and much softer, allowing them to follow contours without leaving visible streaks.
